Pamead Shipwreck
Lower South Hill, Sandy Ground Beach, 2640, Anguilla
About
The Pamead was a general cargo ship (IMO 5272189) registered in Anguilla, built in 1955. The vessel was driven ashore during Hurricane Lenny in 1999, which left her stranded on the southern end of Sandy Ground Beach. For over two decades, the Pamead has remained largely where it was pushed by the storm.
Today, it lies rusted and half-submerged; its corroded hull, stern, and bow provide a haunting-ly beautiful contrast against Anguilla’s pristine turquoise waters. The wreck’s weathered metal and twisted structure have become a striking visual landmark.
