Things to do in Grenada: the Spice Isle, its beaches and waterfalls

Grenada is the Spice Isle, and the name is literal: nutmeg and cocoa grow across the island and turn up in the markets, the rum and the chocolate. It is greener and hillier than the flat coral islands, so the days split between the coast and the interior.

What to do

Grand Anse is the headline beach, a long calm stretch near the capital that regularly lands on best-in-the-Caribbean lists. Inland, the waterfalls (Annandale and the Seven Sisters) and the spice and chocolate estates are the reason to hire a car or a guide. Divers head for the underwater sculpture park off the west coast.
