Pigeon Island National Landmark

Pigeon Island National Landmark, Gros Islet, St. Lucia

About

Pigeon Island is a 44-acre historic islet in Gros Islet, up in the northern part of Saint Lucia. Originally an island, it was connected to the mainland in 1972 by a causeway. Steeped in history, the Landmark features ruins of 18th- and 19th-century forts (including Fort Rodney), barracks, kitchens, signal posts, and batteries. It played key roles under French, British, and pirate control. Visitors can hike trails to Signal Peak for panoramic views, stroll among ruins, enjoy tranquil beaches, and explore gardens.

Managed by the Saint Lucia National Trust, Pigeon Island is both a cultural heritage site and a recreational haven. It’s well located near Rodney Bay, accessible via the causeway, and offers visitor amenities like informational signage, beaches, scenic lookouts, and small eateries.

The entry fee ranges from US$3.00 to US$10.00 for non-residents, and EC$4.00 to EC$10.00 for residents, children under 5 are offered free entry.
