Dogs & Cats Of Antigua Inc. (DACOA)
About
Dogs & Cats Of Antigua Inc. (DACOA) is a registered nonprofit animal welfare organization based in Ottos, St. John’s, Antigua & Barbuda, devoted to improving the lives of stray, abandoned, neglected and injured animals on the island. Founded in 2015 as a 501(c)(3) charity, DACOA works to transform Antigua into a place where healthy, cared-for animals are the norm rather than the exception, tackling issues such as overpopulation, starvation and disease through hands-on rescue efforts and community outreach. Its core activities include feeding and providing basic care to animals in distress, coordinating veterinary assistance, promoting and conducting spay and neuter initiatives, fostering pets and rehoming dogs and cats to loving homes locally and overseas, with adoption support extending to the U.S., Canada and the U.K. The organization also emphasises education on proper animal care and humane treatment for people of all ages, aiming to reduce abuse and improve the relationship between humans and animals across Antigua. Volunteers and supporters can contribute through donations, fostering, adoption, travel-buddy programs for pets relocating abroad, or by participating in community events and awareness campaigns.
