Where to stay in Curaçao: Willemstad, Pietermaai and the beach strips

City colour or beach-club calm, how to choose where to stay in Curaçao and where to start.

Curaçao splits its lodging between the colour of Willemstad and the beach strips outside it. Where you stay depends on whether you want the UNESCO capital on your doorstep or the water.

Where to stay

Willemstad puts you in the painted, UNESCO-listed capital, with the restored Pietermaai district and its boutique hotels and bars the liveliest corner. For beaches, the Jan Thiel and Mambo Beach areas to the south-east are the resort-and-nightlife strips, while the quieter west end, out towards Westpunt, suits divers and anyone after the empty coves. Stay central for the city, west for the water.

Where to start

Before you go

The best western beaches are a drive from the city, so a car helps if you stay in town. The number on each page is the property’s own.
