What to look for
The Kingstown market, busiest on Friday and Saturday mornings, is the heart of it, stalls of produce, spices, ground provisions and craft. The local products to carry home are arrowroot, long one of the island’s main crops, and its hot pepper sauces. For craft, look for the woven straw the island is known for, baskets, hats and mats, along with batik cloth, hand-painted calabashes and local art around Heritage Square and Bay Street.
